UPDATE

Well, its only been 11 months since my last post. I guess weddings and business school classes impact blogging. In reality, the big red dog's health has been relatively stable and has not required status updates. However...

Last week an MRI showed a small, gray spot in-and-around the dead scar tissue right behind where the original golf ball was removed. Yesterday he had a full, fancy scan and the results came back today...

It appears to be a small tumor hiding behind the scar tissue. The good news is that the other, smaller spots that were visible 14 months ago are no longer there. It seems the chemo treatment has helped; however, this new guy is there, where the big bad one was before, which means it needs to be dealt with.

There are two options:

1) participate in a clinical trial and have surgery - a drug in clinical trial has been used on other similar cancers to target tumors and weaken them to make surgical removal more successful.

2) targeted radiation - zap the crap out of the spot and continue chemo.

There is obviously more risk and reward with option #1. The ball is in the big red dog's court to decide. Regardless of which he chooses, the procedure/treatment couldn't begin for 2-3 weeks since he just had a round of chemo, which needs to be out of his system before any next steps.

I will keep you posted...promise.
